Ashdown man charged with negligent homicide, leaving the scene

Thirty-one-year-old Ashdown, Arkansas resident Mark Merrell, who was charged with negligent homicide and leaving the scene of an accident involving personal injury or death – both felony charges – in relation to a crash that took place on May 20, 2015 at around 9:40 p.m., will commence his trial on Monday, September 26 in the Little River County Circuit Court in Ashdown.

The victim was identified as 56-year-old Ogden resident Adrian Deadner.

According to court documents, Deadner had been on his bicycle along the west shoulder of Little River County Road 70 when he was hit by Merrell’s 1988 Plymouth, which was headed west along the same highway.

An Arkansas State Police report showed that Deadner succumbed to his mortal injuries at around 1:12 a.m. on May 21, 2016, while being attended to at Christus St. Michael Health System in Texarkana in Miller County.
