Arkansas State Police have reported Fort Smith resident Matthew Choate, 24, lost his life when his vehicle collided with that of an Arkansas state trooper on Interstate 40. The accident occurred near the interchange between Van Buren and Alma on Monday, August 8 at around 3:40 a.m.

Choate was driving the wrong way on the highway when he collided with the state trooper’s vehicle. Toxicology tests later showed that he was intoxicated at the time of the accident.
