Local coffee shop on Rogers Ave., the Coffee Cup, is under construction after a driver ran his car into the front of the business Aug. 4. The incident was reported around 7:20 a.m. and officers were on the scene soon afterwards.

The driver of the Toyota sedan spoke with police officials at the scene of the accident. He told officers that he was attempting to pull into a parking spot at the front of the store when the vehicle accidentally accelerated into the coffee shop window. The driver was the only occupant in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

The Coffee Cup posted a picture of the damage on Instagram with the caption: “Everyone is fine! Some people just really want drive-thru coffee. Accidents happen. We will be closed today, but have free brewed coffee all day as we are cleaning. And will be open tomorrow morning.”

Officers did not give the driver any citations. However, the property damage is estimated at about $20,000.
