One dead in Fayetteville hit-and-run collision

The Fayetteville Police Department took 33-year-old Sergio Rodriguez into custody last Tuesday, November 8 as the primary suspect in a hit-and-run collision. The Washington County accident happened near Crossover Road and Zion Road in Fayetteville around 8 p.m. last Sunday, November 6.

According to Sergeant Craig Stout, the accident involved two people on a scooter and one person inside a red Chevrolet Silverado pickup. Eighteen-year-old Fayetteville resident Hailey King and 20-year-old Springdale resident Osmin Gutierrez were riding a scooter south on Crossover when they were struck from behind by the pickup. The driver of the pickup immediately left the scene of the accident after the incident took place, parking the vehicle at an apartment complex and fleeing on foot.

One of the victims was found near Crossover Road and Randal Place while the other was found on Zion Road. King died as the result of her injuries, and Gutierrez is still in critical condition.
