Thirty-seven-year-old Pine Bluff, Arkansas resident Barney Wells, Sr., who was the driver of the dump truck that was involved in an accident at County Road 9 and State Highway 91 outside of Blair on October 9th, has accepted a plea deal after fleeing the scene of the accident.

According to reports, the dump truck Wells was driving at the time of the incident was pulling a trailer and underwent some kind of malfunction. Wells and his passenger bailed out of the dump truck when the brakes failed as it was crashing into a ditch alongside the road. Though the passenger was apparently injured, Wells left the scene of the accident and refused to return when authorities contacted him.

The terms of the plea deal stipulate that Wells will accept the Class I misdemeanor charge of obstructing a peace officer in exchange for the other charges, leaving the scene of a personal injury accident and operation outside of classification of license, being dropped. Wells was given a sentence of 75 days of imprisonment, with credit for 19 days served, and was ordered to pay a fine of $250.
