Area residents desiring to learn more about obtaining information from governmental agencies—and nonprofit organizations which utilize public monies—are invited to attend a meeting on Thursday evening, April 17, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00p.m. in the First Federal Room of the “Gene” Durand Center in Harrison.

Sponsored by the Boone County Concerned Citizens, the informative meeting will feature Joey McCutchen, a well-known Fort Smithattorney who specializes in Arkansas Freedom of Information and Seventh Amendment legislation.

Joey, a member of the Arkansas Trial Lawyers Association Board of Governors and a founding member of McCutchen Napurano - The Law Firm in Fort Smith, received his Bachelors and Juris Doctorate degrees from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville and has been awarded a Masters of Theological Studies from Harvard University. Having been a longtime sports enthusiast, Joey founded NextLevel Sports, a sports marketing and representation agency, and he actually represents NCAA and NBA coaches throughout the United States. He also conducts a collegiate athletic leadership symposium for college coaches throughout America each year.

Having a special interest in the Arkansas Freedom of Information Act, Joey believes that it is vital in a democratic society that public business be conducted in an open and public manner so that citizens can be adequately advised of the performance of public officials.

All area citizens desiring to learn how to submit Freedom of Information requests—and their options should those requests not be properly and timely answered—will enjoy attending Joey’s presentation on April 17.

Betty Knight and Kathy Valentine have announced that there is no charge for Joey’s presentation, and free refreshments and resource materials will be available.

Membership in the Boone County Concerned Citizens is free, and additional information may be obtained concerning this unique and beneficial organization—or about Joey’s presentation—by contacting Ed or Betty Knight at 870/688-9543 or Kathy Valentine at 870/743-1957.
